Overview
This double income working couple may not see each other for days at a time. The husband, a management consultant, travels extensively around the country while his wife usually works long hours in her position at a major drug company. When they do have time together it was important to have a room to spend their time with an efficient design as well as a haven to relax in front of the fireplace when the meal preparation is done.

Challenges
The room where this kitchen was installed was originally a dining area complete with fireplace. It was important for the clients to retain the fireplace and have the theme of the room complement the fireplace.

Notes
Warm cherry woods were used to keep a traditional look in the room. Glass doors enhance the island and a matching bench was constructed to be able to sit and relax reading the morning papers. A large expanse of counter space makes it easy for the couple to work together, while a large custom hood with pull out spice areas keeps a traditional "furniture" look to the room.
