Overview
As part of a complete condominium renovation, this galley kitchen also served as a buffet serving area, and small dining area. A traditional theme was required by the clients, so that it would meld with the rest of the apartment.

Challenges
Since this was a multi story building, it was constructed with concrete slab floors and ceilings. The window was positioned very close to the corner of the wall making it impossible to install full depth base or wall cabinets. To solve these problems, the ceiling was lowered 6" with sheetrock to allow for use of recessed lighting. Custom depth angled base and wall cabinets were used near the window creating a space that still could be used for storage while not infringing on the window.

Notes
Matching wood door panels were used on appliances to make them seem to disappear within the room. A custom lightly glazed cream and mocha stain finish for the cabinets was developed for this couple to keep the room looking open and airy even though it was a small galley area. Tiles installed on a diagonal on the floor created a smooth transition to the eating area.
