Overview
This was a kitchen every designer loves to do. This empty nester couple loved to entertain with this spectacular kitchen that overlooked their pool. Beside the husband being a wine connoisseur, the wife was a professional cook who also gave cooking lessons. She had definite ideas and needs for this kitchen to work for her.

Challenges
Create enough space for the hundreds of cookbooks the client had. Give the homeowner the ability to be able to barbecue indoors without any smoke coming into the room. Allow enough working space with multiple sinks in separate locations.

Notes
Double islands were incorporated into the design. One island was for pure work space, while the other contained sinks and a raised eating area. Custom adjustable divider drawers were designed to allow for vertical individual access and storage for pans. The ceiling of the room was raised to 11' to create an enormous space. A custom built hood with dual 1200 cfm fans was used over both the oven/cooktop and separate barbecue areas. Another wall oven gave this professional chef the extra oven cavities needed for those days when many foods were being prepared at one time. A Spekva Iroko wood top added to the incredible aesthetic look of the room while stainless steel was used for the cooking area cabinet fronts as well as other appliances in the room. All in all, anyone whether being the occasional cook or a full fledged chef would love to work in this kitchen.
