Overview
This traditional tudor home with its warm wood interiors needed a kitchen that would complement the look of the house. The homeowners wanted a different look rather than what they called a typical stained cabinet finish. Also, extra space was needed without bumping out the walls.
Challenges
Create more usable space without expanding the exterior walls of the room. Create a different look for the cabinets and make the most use of the space to store all of a kitchen’s items.
Notes
An interior wall that abutted the garage was moved slightly towards the garage which was long enough to allow for the wall movement as well as still being able to house a car.
A yellow with chocolate stain glaze was created to eliminate the typical stained look. The use of cherry wood on the island complemented the glaze color on the perimeter wall cabinets. No space was wasted including the use of a multi pull out wire shelf arrangement in the corner base cabinet which would usually be hard to access. The installation of a hickory wood floor added to the warmth of this room.
