Warm Woods
Location: Short Hills, NJ

Overview
The client wanted a formal yet functional kitchen where she could easily prepare meals for her on-the-go family of four and, just as handily, use it for feeding party guests.

Challenges
The challenges were significant to make room and light for this new room. A bathroom was removed and the location of the kitchen was totally reconfigured to allow more natural light to shine in. It required an additional, new window and new patio doors, too. Natural maple wood flooring was used instead of tile to increase the warmth of the room.

Notes
A custom-made hood mounted on an angle over a professional cooktop is a dominant, yet appealing solution. The backsplash is glass and slate tile. A minor mistake was made masterful on the island countertop when the undermount sink was slightly too small to use a plastic colander. Steve resolved the problem by enlisting a stainless steel fabricator to create a custom-made colander for the sink.
