Overview
Making a success of this kitchen meant making the
maximum of a small space in a high-rise condominium. The
client, a single, retired businesswoman, knew she wanted to
use every inch of precious space wisely with an emphasis
on having enough storage.
Challenges
Accommodating a washer/dryer unit in the kitchen,
creating as much storage as possible within a confined
space, and using the area above the water heater located
in the kitchen.
Bringing electric cables from the breaker box in the
hallway into the kitchen without perforating the ceiling,
which holds electric heat cables. Plus, the lighting
presented similar obstacles.
Notes
Pull-out wire storage was designed for installation
over the water heater so as not to waste space. Corian
countertops and backsplashes made the small space appear
larger.
Miele washer and dryer are hidden behind doors matching
the cabinetry. A pass-through into the dining/living room
area creates an open, airy look.
